Raphaelis, Throne of the Holy Blood
The Corpsers
Gathering corpus for churches is a dirty and dangerous job. In order to distance themselves from the source of these artifacts, the profession of gathering Angelic artifacts is carried out by independent relic hunters.
Corpsers are recognizable by their extensively tattooed bodies and conspicuous collection of magical items. Existing outside both the protection and the boundaries of the law means they are extremely cautious and untrusting by nature. They are outlaws living on the fringes of society. Powerful, respected, but despised. Not unlike the Watchers themselves.
Many Corpsers have pieces of the Watchers grafted onto their own bodies, exemplifying their own loss of humanity in the pursuit of power. One might have an exotic eye that grants them magical insight, while another might have a whole arm, ill-fit to the proportion of their body. The process of becoming a Corpser is irreversibly dehumanizing.
The Holy Mountain
Scarred by the events of the Divine War, this mountain is missing half of its mass. Shorn cleanly down the middle, the peak of the mountain falls away in a sheer cliff face that descends thousands of feet to the earth below.
Atop the peak, a cluster of ornate buildings reaches skyward. Spires, bridges, and decorated walls jockey for position within the sparse area the mountain's zenith allows. This is the home of the Order of the Holy Blood. Healers of the sick, scribes of religious texts, and keepers of secrets.
Virtues of Raphael
Flanking the inner chambers of the Cathedral are Raphael's bizarre avatars. These hulking abominations of cloth, metal, and flesh resemble pieces of human anatomy combined with architectural elements. Much like the higher orders of Angels, they’re bodies are huge and surreal. They shadow the priests and wardens, following their will almost implicitly. These beings exist as a physical manifestation of the Order's influence. The closer you get to their Patron's corpse, the more common their presence becomes.
