Ichor of Uriel

A thick, clear oil emitted by the body of the Patron Uriel. Bottled in small vials and carried by warriors of the Angel’s Order. The fluid is extremely flammable and can be coaxed into ignition through both mundane and magical means. Drinking the ichor has a hallucinogenic effect and causes extreme mental and physical agitation.

The Order of the Burning Heart will imbibe it ritualistically to prove control over their minds and bodies.

 The Flame’s Embrace

Flowing downhill from the Angel’s body, squat glowing smokestacks push upwards from underground in clusters reminiscent of stalagmites. Fueled by clean-burning holy ichor and the endless flow of heat from the Angel’s burning heart, these forges direct and harness channels of molten rock through underground channels to powerful furnaces, steam hammers, lathes, and mills.

Within these holy structures, simple smithed goods like blades, hammers, and plows can be crafted within a fraction of the time that a conventional blacksmith could work.

The heat of the forges is beyond what a human could withstand without the blessings of their patron protecting them. Every worker, bolstered by holy tattoos, talismans of protection, and prayers to their Patron works within an environment capable of burning an unprotected man alive in seconds. Their hands, wreathed in flame, are capable of shaping steel like wet clay.

The Cathedral of Endless Flame (The Heart)

At the center of the city, perched upon the chest of Uriel itself, the Cathedral of Endless Flame stokes and focuses the endless supply of heat and ichor that emanates from the Patron.

Under the domes of this building, the Virtues of Uriel gather to assist in the care of the Patron. Unlike the more conventional cathedral at The Head, the interior of this structure is boiling with heat. The priests who gather here are clad in fireproof garb.

The artisans of The Heart craft a smooth, rubby cloth known as affestos from the corpus of their patron. This material is used to craft clothing that insulates and protects the body from extreme heat. Clothed in affestos, the Emissaries of Flame are capable of manipulating the eternal flame without harm to themselves. 

Unlike the priests of old who allowed their flesh to be consumed by the Angel, the modern incarnation of the order works collaboratively with Uriel’s flame.
