Art by Matt Mrowka
When I first designed Asbeel, I didn't think anyone was going to like him. He seemed too strange and too dark for my audience. That turned out to be dead wrong. You guys have supported me when I want to make dark and strange art. It's been a great experience.
Indulging in making darker art has also connected me with amazing artists with dark tastes like Matt Mrowka. He's someone I am leaning on quite heavily to figure out a solution to the many questions I get about custom Angelarium tattoo designs.
My current experiment is to have guest contributors create their own take on the Watchers. The first is Matt Mrowka's take on Asbeel, Angel of Ruin. Matt has built his own themes on top of the existing structure of my painting to make something that is unique to both of us. It's wonderful to see.
Book of Emanations: Temporarily Sold Out
Despite ordering what I thought was an ambitious number of books, we've basically sold out. It sneaked up on me while I was in the process of arranging the second printing. When I thought we had a few month's worth of inventory remaining, we were actually running right down to the last copy.
I've ordered a second printing of the book with a modified cover and dust jacket. Anyone owning the first printing of the book will be able to recognize it by the fact that the text on the spine runs counter the standard direction. The second printing will feature Yesod on the dustjacket and the spine's text has been modified.
Anyone who had orders already made through the site are having their first books delivered as intended. So, this will only effect people making orders after I've labeled it as 'backorder'. Those will ship in around 8 weeks.

The 10th in the Watchers series has arrived and he's one of my favorites. There was a profound sense of flow working on this one. No anxiety, no blocks. Without the time restrictions imposed by a travel schedule, I was able to comfortably spend time focusing on what I wanted to accomplish with this painting. Many of my favorite icons ended up slipping into the piece as a result.
Samshiel represents power that has been snuffed out. While he typically represents the sun, I wanted to create a figure that was formerly associate with the sun, but now exists without it. The burning embers at his feat and behind his mask still betray his origins, but he's a creature of shadow now.

I didn't know this piece was going to be gold when I started working on it. Purity is a strange concept. It's something we think of as good and clear but it's so often used to nefarious ends. By its nature, it is extreme, and out of balance.
This piece calls back to the famous painting by Waterhouse. It's a classic that comes to mind often. The idea of playing off a recognizable classic painting like that is something I really enjoy as an artist. It's a grand tradition and I love participating in it.

Towards the end of the Book of Emanations project, Noah Bradley contributed a massive addition to the series. Although the piece is small in the book, it's impact is huge.
Ein Sof is represented as it exists inside the Angelarium as a massive tree. Though, it looks static, it is a reflection of the whole universe. Within its branches, an entire internal work exists that holds the entirety of human experience.
The original painting is digital and it's massive. I've decided to reproduce it in its full glory at as a 56" wide Limited Edition print.
